How long do your children spend in front of a computer or mobile phone? Looking down and dropping the head and neck forward changes the natural curve of your spine and neck. Forward head posture is "Tech Neck" or "Pokemon" posture. As the head goes forward, the jaw goes back which may result in TMJ dysfunction.

Postural distortion patterns of the cervical spine are also associated with the presence of headaches and migraines. Our kids need to learn how to protect their neck while looking down or up. Strength is the ultimate mechanism behind shaping biology. It directly sculpts the way of the body will develop, regardless of genetic predisposition

3 most common factors of posture:

1. Carrying heavy bags

2. Standing with torso shifted on one leg

3. Slouching the shoulders forward

When children carry backpacks that are more than 10% their body weight, they are more likely to develop back pain. Postural training helps children prevent musculoskeletal conditions that are common during the development stage, such as neck and back pain. It can be treated with yoga positions designed to stretch and strengthen the back.

Researches indicate that children as young as 10 years old are demonstrating visible degeneration on X-ray. Poor posture is not simply an aesthetically problem in our society; it is a modern-day epidemic affecting the lives of millions of people. Modernisation and technological advancement of our cultures and the accompanying habits of being more sedentary and sitting poorly, have set new societal patterns affecting posture. Proper spinal alignment allows all the body's systems-such as respiratory, circulatory, digestive or nervous systems to function at their highest levels. ( American Posture Institute)

Have you noticed how the mood affects child's body? Aside from the physical benefits, yoga teaches teens techniques to cope with the unique issues they’re faced with every day. Our natural human emotions are expressed through our physiological posture as 93% of communication is nonverbal.

Our minds have different ways of relating to the world, which is called “Being mode and Doing mode”. Changing kids perspective can transform their experience of life. Mindfulness meditation helps to recognise which mode our mind is operating. “Being mode” frees us. In mindfulness, we start to see the world as it is, not as we expect it to be. To be mindful means to be back in touch with your senses. Mindfulness teaches us that thoughts are just thoughts, they are valuable but they aren’t “you”.
